Hello and welcome to the York Theatre Forum.
As the name suggests, this is a forum for anyone in York interested in the theatre, whether that be acting, directing, teching, organising or just watching. York has a phenomenal theatre scene, and this is hopefully a way of pulling all the different threads together and turning it into a real community.
So come in, make yourself at home and start talking. Start talking on the Forum, and start talking about the Forum to other people - the more people who use this, the better it will get. I've thrown some ideas for specific forum topics up but this is going to be an organic thing: if there's demand for something that doesn't exist then it can be created. If there's things that aren't being used then we'll drop or merge them to keep the board trim and tidy.
We welcome "official" presence from theatre companies and other interested parties as well as individuals, and you are most welcome to advertise your shows here - that's part of the point.
So welcome once again. When registering, we encourage you to use your real name (or variants on it) rather than a made-up "handle", because we believe it fosters a better sense of community than impersonal "masks". Don't, however, go passing out anything more personal (phone number, email address) on public forums. If you need to give someone your details, there's a Private Message function.
Happy posting!
