So ... I'm looking at a Shakespeare play I'm thinking about applying to direct. It's a way off yet, but I'm starting to think about cutting the text as it's something that might come up at interview.
I've not done this before, so I'd be interested in people's thoughts about what I should be considering.

Piece of advice I had from a friend of mine was basically this: look at the main thrust of the story that YOU want to tell. Everything else is not exactly superfluous, but ripe for pruning, as it were. Especially if it's a play that can be told from many different angles, it's necessary to decide (and early on) what YOU want to look at, and what fascinates you about it.
